Recycling Cabinets

While we continue to work on our basement project, we try to recycle and reuse as many things as possible. Even though the basement originally had no internal walls, it did have a half bath and a kitchen sink. We ditched the sink, because that’s where the new vanity will go for the bathroom, but we kept the cabinets just in case we wanted to use them for something else. After sitting in the garage for about a year, we thought it’d be a good idea to use the cabinets in the new utility room. So we’ve spent the past couple of weekends sanding the cabinets, replacing some framing that had been cut for plumbing, removing the original flooring of the cabinets and replacing them with plywood. Today, I finished the sanding and put a good coat of primer on the cabinets until we decide what color we’re going to paint them. That’ll depend on what color of countertop we decide to use.
